Green Flash Le Freak & Linchpin
Today we have a two-fer review, with a couple Belgian IPA’s from Green Flash Brewing Co. The Belgian IPA is a pretty tough style to pull off really well in my opinion. In this case, however, Green Flash does a great job of creating not one but two outstanding brews!
Le Freak: I was hearing a lot of buzz about this beer since their recent launch in Georgia. A lot of clove and a light fruitiness, mostly banana and oranges. Spicy yeast blends with some pine and grapefruit hops. Unlike some Belgian IPAs this is really put together well, a true mixture of a Tripel and an IPA. Mmmm, the more I drink this the more I like it.
Linchpin: This Belgian IPA is a collaboration brewed with Founders. I first had this on draft at The Distillery here in Savannah and have since picked up a few bombers of it was well. Soft wheat and Belgian yeast is combined with mild tropical fruit flavors and a nice spicy hop bitterness. This was such a pleasant Belgian IPA with neither style overpowering the other, a perfect blend of a Witbier and an IPA. As of now this is a one time deal, so jump on trying this if you see it!
