Westbrook Wine Barrel Tripel
There are three variants of this beer, this one is the Rombauer Single-vineyard Cabernet (French & American Oak) version and has been aged 1 year. Lightly sweet fruits (apples and grapes) along with a subtle spicy yeast. The star of this show is the wine barrel aging, the Cabernet is upfront and delicious and the vanilla and oak from the barrels really shine through as well. The dry red wine like finish is excellent mixing with a return to the initial fruit flavors. I feel like this beer has some serious aging potential, I wish I had picked up more than 1 bottle. Westbrook Wine Barrel Tripel was quite amazing, and much like Allagash Curieux, it seems I like barrel treated tripels so much better than straight forward ones.
