Birra Del Borgo Duchessic Ale
Birra Del Borgo Duchessic Ale is an Italian farmhouse ale blended with a one year old Cantillon lambic. I was excited to see the name Cantillon on this, haven’t even been in the same room as one of their bottles yet. Thanks for sharing Lee! The cap popped off pretty aggressively leading to a bit of foam gushing out the top of the bottle. Not bad enough to delay us too long though and each pour ended up being a rather pretty light gold color with a nice head. I wasn’t so sure about the combo of flavors at first, but after the first sip or two I really got into this. This is a mild sour ale, I would say more fruity and tart than sour. The funky saison elements are more dominate, while the lambic adds an interesting twist to the style. I don’t tend to associate Italy and fine craft beer, but the good folks at Birra Del Borgo are creating some amazing beers.
