Dogfish Head Burton Baton
Dogfish Head Burton Baton American Double/Imperial IPA. Once an occasional rarity this is now available year round in 4 packs. This beer is a two-thread young/oak aged DIPA. The final blend is super creamy with a good bit of sweet malt upfront. A lot of nice herbal and flowery hop character with notes of mango and pineapple. I’m really getting the oak in the aftertaste, but surprising not a lot of the vanilla flavor I usually find in oak aged beers. A little alcohol is coming through on the finish, but nothing too offensive. I would not normally suggest aging a DIPA but this is one of those that I think might develop nicely over time, think about tossing a couple in your cellar as an experiment!
