Cisco Island Reserve : Saison Farmhouse Ale
Cisco Island Reserve : Saison Farmhouse Ale is brewed with buckwheat, oats, and rye fermented with Brettanomyces and a Saison yeast in a 50 hectoliter french oak cask. It pours with a big fluffy head (even on the second pour 20 minutes later), so yeah solid carbonation on this one. Big tart citrus with a lot of lemon dominating. The brett is obvious with a nice bit of funkiness while the spices seem to include clove and grains of paradise. The finish is dry and tingly with more of the lemon citrus. A classic saison this isn’t, but then again the brewers warn you not to expect one on the website. By the second glass I was pretty into this little “saison”.
