Struise Black Albert
Struise Black Albert is a Russian Imperial Stout. This is Batch 014, with a best by date of July 2015. This is referred to as a Belgian Royal Stout on the bottle. Also from the bottle: One out of a dozen ales that is as black as hell, filty rich in the nose and with massive spoiled taste. (filty is their typo not mine, I assume they meant filthy) Seriously though, this is one intense beer. Things start with a lot of bitter dark chocolate and big roasted malts. As it warms some sweeter cherry notes, along with some other dark fruit flavors emerge. A bit of quirky Belgian yeast notes bring up the rear. The 13% ABV isn’t to be trifled with either. It’s a very unique RIS to say the least, I am glad I traded for a bottle of this. It is a pricey beer, but if you are a fan of the style it should be on your must try list.
