Revolution Brewing Coup D’Etat Saison
Revolution Brewing’s Coup D’Etat Saison is the first beer I’ve had from the reputable Chicago brewery. This was consumed in May, 2013 and the bottle was dated 12.5.12. Hopefully, that’s a bottled on date, not a best-buy date.
In general, this beer has a very smooth malt base. However, that only lays the foundation for a bit of a pepper bomb. I do love a spicy farmhouse ale, so that wasn’t a problem for me. Citrus and some earthy hops round out the flavor profile.
This French-style saison is a worthy addition to your beer fridge if you like your ales spicy and sweet with just a tad of rustic funk.
