Founders Curmudgeon is an Old Ale released sometime around May every year. This is a semi-sweet and malty beer with lots of vanilla and hints of mild cherry. The oak barrel aging is pretty evident with a dry woodiness that lingers into the aftertaste. The hops are mild, but a nice spicy bitterness adds to the finish. One of the first Old Ales I ever had and the style has been growing on me lately. Not an everyday beer, but I’ll probably up my purchase to a couple of 4 packs next year.
