Lagunitas Hop Stoopid
It’s Throwback Thursday again! This is becoming one of my favorite reviews to write.
Lagunitas Hop Stoopid is an American Double/Imperial IPA. I have to admit that when I was going through my big hop phase, I kind of had a crush on this DIPA. I can see some of it’s flaws now (I guess love is blind), but I still think it’s a solid DIPA. As best as I can remember this was one of the first bombers I ever bought too. Not hard to see why either, it’s a steal at under $5. Getting orange citrus and caramel malts upfront. The back of the tongue and throat is then hit with very resinous pine hops and some big bitterness. A good bit of onion and garlic follows into the aftertaste, a flavor I started to dislike as my palate grew. Fortunately as it warms a bit of grapefruit rind helps dull that a bit. In my opinion this is probably the best value DIPA out there today.
