Cigar City Brewing Humidor Series IPA
Here is another Throwback Thursday beer to help get you to the weekend!
Cigar City Brewing Humidor Series IPA is aged on cedar and it shows, this beer smells just like a cedar chest. The taste is much like the Jai Alai IPA but with cedar and floral notes throughout. A good bit of juicy ruby red grapefruit, which is not a flavor I get in regular Jai Alai, makes a strong showing as well. A truly unique and delicious IPA. This beer is very good from the bottle but I would be hard pressed to find a better beer fresh on tap. If I was forced to drink one beer for the rest of my life, fresh kegs of this would probably be it.
Now you’re probably wondering how this rotating specialty IPA from CCB can be a throwback beer? Well, for me it really is one. Emily and I used to visit the old Cigar City tap room pretty frequently over the last 3 years. In those early years it seemed like this beer was always on tap. I loved it so much I would never end up trying anything else when we were there! (Sometimes I wonder about the one off rarities I passed on back then) These days the demand for this beer is so much higher and they don’t seem to brew it nearly as often making it much harder to find. Believe me though, each new pour takes me back to that time when I was just learning about beer.
