Anchor Liberty Ale
A “forgotten” American Classic Pale Ale for Throwback Thursday.
As far as I’m concerned Anchor Liberty Ale does not get the respect it deserves. A classic American Pale Ale, I think I originally gravitated to this beer thanks to the beautiful label. What I got once it was opened it was one of the first APA’s that I tried that seemed out of the ordinary to me.
The beer starts nice and hoppy up front which is followed by a light malt sweetness. There is a pleasant tartness to the beer, giving it a bit of a dry mouth-feel and great drinkability. Is it as extreme as some of today’s big pale ales? No, of course not. But I am always shocked by some of the average reviews/ratings of this beer. How people can’t taste the quality and passion put into this beer is beyond me.
