Bridgeport Hop Czar
Another Throwback Thursday brings us another beer getting the love it deserves!
Bridgeport Hop Czar is an American Double/Imperial IPA. Not only is this a solid beer, but as with most of the Bridgeport line-up it is incredibly affordable, making it a regular in my fridge back in the day. Coming in at a tame 7.5% ABV this is no longer considered an extreme DIPA. (there are quite a few everyday IPA’s out there coming in at a higher ABV) This is hop forward with piney and spicy flavors dominate. There is also a pleasant dry lemony bitterness that lingers. The sweet malt tries really hard to come through, succeeding a little as it warms, but overall this beer is a little unbalanced.
With so many options out there these days this truly is a “forgotten” beer for me, but every time I have one I am reminded of just how good it is.
