Young’s Double Chocolate Stout
Throwback Thursday takes us across the pond for a classic import brew.
There was a time when it was very common for people to head right to the import section in the hopes of finding a good craft beer. I too used to reach for anything imported before taking a chance on some “cheap American beer”. Clearly times have changed, and if you frequent this website you are obviously no stranger to the tremendous improvements to the beer world in the last 30 years. Of course it is fun to pick up a bottle or two of those old favorites from time to time!
Young’s Double Chocolate Stout (Wells & Young’s Ltd) is a favorite choice for many. This milk stout has a mild sweetness with a big dark chocolate presence along with some roasted malts and hops keeping the beer honest. It had been a while since I have had this and I was getting a surprising bit of smokiness as well. This is a great gateway beer that is a lot of fun to come back around to as well!
