Dogfish Head Olde School
Dogfish Head Olde School is anĀ American Barleywine. This review is for the 2012 vintage aged just over one year. This just might be the most straight forward beer these guys do. Extreme in the fact that it’s a big 15% ABV, but the flavor is amazingly straight forward for a DFH beer. Brewed with figs and raisins and those flavors do come out big time all through the taste. These dark fruits are mixing with an amazingly delicate caramel flavor. The hops have been muted in the past year, but are still evident. This might not be as smooth or rich (or sought after) as some of my favorite barleywines, but I love how easy to drink and delicate this is at such a high ABV. This really is a fantastic beer that will be in my cellar quite a bit.
