The Bruery 6 Geese-A-Laying
The Bruery 6 Geese-A-Laying is a Belgian Strong Dark Ale. This is the 6th beer in the 12 Days of Christmas Series in which each beer is designed to be either enjoyed immediately or as a massive epic vertical upon the 12th beers release. 6 Geese-A-Laying is brewed with Cape Gooseberries of course. I was not too terribly impressed with the two previous 12 Days of christmas beers, but this one is a differnt story. This is a beautiful glass of beer, it pours with a pretty gold/red color and a hefty off-white head. The taste is very rich, malty and fruity. As the beer warms up sweet flavors of plums, dark cherry and a slightly tart citrus note come out. I’m guessing that last fruit flavor is from the gooseberries, although that isn’t something I’ve ever tasted before. There is also a distinct Belgian yeast flavor always present in the flavor. The 11.5% ABV seems well hidden at first, but creeps into the taste as it warms. High marks all around!
