Terrapin Pineapple Express (Side Project Vol. 21)

Terrapin Pineapple Express is the winner of the first annual Employee Homebrew Challenge. The inspiration came from some grilled pineapple at a backyard cookout. Solid Helles base, definitely the kind of beer that would be great for the summertime. The specialty additions are a bit mild though. The smokiness, although not huge, is upfront when the beer is poured fresh from the fridge. I was curious where the pineapple was until the beer warmed up some. A small hint of pineapple (but not as much as I wanted) eventually comes out mixing with the lingering mild smokiness. Not the most impressive Side Project I’ve tried, but Vol. 21 is certainly a solid beer that is worth a try.
