Bayerischer Bahnhof Leipziger Gose
I’ve noticed Bayerischer Bahnhof Leipziger GoseĀ (and it’s fantastic label art) for years on our local bottle shelves but had never picked one up. It wasn’t until the current growth of the American made Gose that I realized exactly what the beer style was and that I should try it! This very traditional version is brewed with the additional ingredients of lactic acid, cilantro, and salt. Getting a very slight tartness with a good bit of light grain and some “power of suggestion” saltiness. There is a hard to describe Belgian quality to this beer as well, just can’t quite place what I’m tasting. I always have reservations about reviewing import beers since there is often a question of freshness (this has no bottle date) and proper storage. I think it’s safe to say this is going to taste much better in Leipzig though! This would make a refreshing summer beer option, but I still prefer the more extremely sour/salty versions that have come out recently.
