Cigar City Brewing Jai Alai Aged On White Oak

Cigar City Brewing Jai Alai Aged On White Oak is an American IPA. You will not be surprised to learn that this is their amazing Jai Alai IPA aged on white oak. What is surprising is that it is remarkably different from Jai Alai. The malt base is more like a toasted sweet bread than the candied malt I get from the original. The oak adds a nice bit of vanilla and a mild amount of dry woodiness. The hop profile isn’t too terribly different, but this version finishes with some crisp grapefruit hop bitterness. This is not the biggest or most extreme IPA I’ve ever had, but the flavors are outstanding. Without a doubt try to seek out the CCB Holy IPA Trinity if you can: Jai Alai, White Oak Jai Alai and Humidor Series Jai Alai!
