Fort George Java The Hop

Fort George Java The Hop is an American IPA , brewed with coffee roasted by Coava Roasters. Let’s get this out of the way straight off, gotta love a beer with a Star Wars reference in the name! I’d give it about a 7 out of 10 on the clever scale. On to the actual beer… OK, this is strange but the first thing I smell and taste is… jalapeno flesh? This isn’t spicy or hot, but the coffee/hop combo turns into jalapeno flavor to me somehow. After I focus my taste buds the single elements of the coffee and hop bitterness appear, before too long the pepper flesh goes away altogether. Overall this is a more coffee dominated beer, but every third to fourth sip is every IPA like to me. This is so odd yet extremely enjoyable, I wish I had more than one of these!
