Saint Somewhere Merde De Singe

Saint Somewhere Merde De Singe, like most all Saint Somewhere beers, is a Saison/Farmhouse Ale. Created in collaboration with Redlight Redlight Beer Parlour in Orlando for Zwayne Day 2013. This is brewed with tamarind. Smells fruity, tart and funky, definitely intriguing. The taste is also intriguing, tart lemon/lime meets a slight date sweetness, some Belgian funk, and a weird sourness. I’m trying to figure out where the sourness is coming from here. Unripe tamarind? Wild yeast strain? Infection? This is one strange but oddly enjoyable saison. I’m not sure if this should have been my introduction to the brewery though.
