Samuel Adams Imperial White
Samuel Adams Imperial White is one of my favorite Boston Beer Company offerings, but with the plethora of new and exciting beers out there these days I hadn’t had it in a while. I added a single to a recent mixed six pack curious to see if my opinion had changed any.
Still a beer with tremendous flavor and character, although it certainly has slipped down my overall list of great beers quite a bit. The flavor starts with a touch of orange followed by a bit of cotton candy sweetness. Yeast, wheat, malt, some mild spices and a bit of alcohol on the finish round out the flavor. This is labeled a (Imperial) Witbier, but it is spot on match for quite a few American Wheatwines I’ve had. Not sure if this would really appeal to someone looking for a Wit, and it could easily be passed over by some one looking for a big sweet sipper. Not that they need any business help from me… but I’d consider rebranding this one!
