Cismontane Black’s Dawn
Three cheers for trade extras! Beer karma is real, and this delicious brew is an example of how an overflowing box from the west coast can really brighten your outlook on life.
Black’s Dawn is simply a very, very tasty imperial stout. I’m talking the lip-smacking good kind of tasty. You really get the booze up front; but it’s metered a bit by black pepper and a roasted, bitter finish.
I found the coffee to be mostly muted; but it may have been due to the age of the bottle. The use of oats added to the rich mouthfeel.
All in all, Black’s Dawn is an exceptionally well balanced beer and I’ll be looking for more from Cismontane in the future.
