New Holland Incorrigible
New Holland Incorrigible is a Berliner Weissbier. This White Sour Ale is the first member of their Cellar Series (which focuses on sour-aging) that I’ve had the opportunity to try.
The smell is strongly sour and slightly funky, becoming a bit more muted as it warms. The taste follows suit almost exactly. A blast of mild sourness is complimented nicely by some funkiness. As the beer warms more of the wheat ale base comes out as the tartness and funk fades away a bit.
This is a pretty good, and very drinkable, sour ale. I can see some good things coming out of this series in the future as the brewers fine tune their souring skills.
