Brooklyn Cuvée Noire
Brooklyn Cuvée Noire is a Belgian Strong Dark Ale. The label indicates this is brewed with sweet orange peel, aged in Kentucky bourbon barrels for more than six months. Like Brooklyn Black Ops it is re-fermented in the bottle with champagne yeast.
This is actually very similar to Black Ops, but with a splash of orange added. A strong blast of bourbon hits the nose, along with a bit of dark fruits and sweet orange. The taste also has some familiar Black Ops flavor qualities: rich dark chocolate, mild bourbon notes and a faint roasty quality throughout. Again add a little sweet orange and you have Cuvée Noire. The mouth-feel is a touch thin, but forgivable.
This was a very enjoyable Belgain style stout, probably because I went into this without any expectations of it being KBS or Black Note.
