Alpine Nelson
Alpine Nelson is a Golden Rye IPA hopped with Nelson Sauvin hops. Finally getting to try some Alpine beer, thanks for the trade Ryan!
The aroma starts really sweet and tropical before some dominate pine takes over. The pine is a huge flavor of the taste as well, but this is a rather complex IPA. Getting notes of spicy rye, green onion, orange and grapefruit. The finish is very dry and slightly sweet, reminding me a good bit of a nice semi-sweet white wine. Nelson has all of the intense characteristics of a classic West Coast style IPA, but where this it shines is how it manages to be perfectly balanced as well.
Although I prefer a slightly different IPA taste profile, I totally get the hype that surrounds this beer. It is considered one of the best beers in the world for good reason!
