Ballast Point Piper Down

Ballast Point Piper Down is a Scottish Ale.

A pretty beer with a big red and slightly amber hue, hold it up to the light and it looks like straight cherry juice. A mild but pleasant nose, getting some toasted bread and mild toffee. The taste follows along rather well with some toasted bread, caramel and toffee, and a good bit of dark cherries that grows as it warms. Just a little hop bite blends with a good bit of carbonation to finish out this West Coast take of the style.

There haven’t been too many Ballast Point beer that have blown me away, but this is another example of very solid and enjoyable beer at a reasonable price. And there ain’t nothing wrong with that!
