New Belgium Le Terroir (Lips Of Faith Series)
New Belgium Le Terroir is an American Wild Ale and is a rotating member of their Lips of Faith Series. This beer is dry hopped and aged 3 years in wood foeders, before being bottled and released. This review is for the 2013 vintage, aged about one year.
The aroma is surprisingly earthy and hoppy after a year of additional aging. A pleasant amount of sourness and hops are blending together from beginning to end. A ton of wonderful fruit flavors of lemon, apricot, grapefruit, mango, pineapple. The mild to medium sourness in this beer is constant throughout, making this very drinkable.
Le Terroir was actually the very first sour beer I ever had, I think that was the 2011 vintage. I had no idea what I was experiencing back then (I liked it though!), but it turns out it was an excellent introduction to the style.
