Sierra Nevada Coffee Stout
Sierra Nevada Coffee Stout is one of the two new beers in the 2014 winter “Snow Pack”. This is probably a new recipe but I have to imagine they have brewed something very similar to this at some point, right? Maybe a taproom exclusive or something like that?
The smell is just as expected, big earthy coffee and roast with a touch of cream. The taste has a lot of coffee of course, but add to that some dry bakers chocolate, roasted malts, sweet vanilla cream, and a touch of lacto-like sourness. The finish on this is rather dry and bitter with a lingering coffee taste you want in this kind of stout.
Nothing about this beer is going to change the game, but this is definitely the newbie in the Snow Pack that makes it worth picking up this year!
