Black Isle Brewing Organic Oatmeal Stout
I visited this small organic craft brewery way back in 2006 when we were on vacation in Scotland, well before I was into craft beer. I could never remember the name of the brewery over the years, but I recognized the label immediately when I saw it here in Savannah. I was so glad to find this bottle of Black Isle Brewing Organic Oatmeal Stout, I’ve really been wanting to try their beer again.
This is super spot on for the style, perfect dark brown to black color with a smooth and creamy mouth-feel. A lovely off white head on the pour. I guess I would call this a medium bodied beer, not crazy heavy but a few would fill you up. The taste starts slightly sweet with some notes of chocolate, which leads to some medium roasted malts and pleasantly mild bitterness on the finish. Again perfect for the style.
I’m so happy this turned out to be such a good beer, I would have hated to ruin my memories from nine and a half years ago!
