Sierra Nevada Estate Homegrown Ale
Sierra Nevada Estate Homegrown Ale is an American IPA made with organic wet hops and barley grown at the brewery in Chico. It’s one of the few 100% homegrown beers available in the world.
The appearance of this is a tad dark but clear with a big frothy head settles into a slight film that never really dissipates. The aroma is strong but not super intense. Getting some earthy notes as well as hints of pine and citrus, a little caramel. I’m tasting light sweet toffee, along with a big earthy/pine hop note. A bit of muted tropical fruits (pineapple, orange) makes it’s way into the mix as well. The hops carry in a very dry finish with a lingering bitter and alcohol aftertaste.
It was great to see this back after a one year hiatus due to drought conditions. Although I did enjoy DevESTATEtion last year, this is one of my favorite Sierra Nevada IPA’s. Welcome Back!
