Stone Delicious IPA
Stone Delicious IPA has been brewed to be a full flavored, gluten “reduced” IPA. The bottle disclaimer reads: This beer was fermented from barley- a grain containing gluten, and crafted to reduce gluten. The Gluten content of this bottle cannot be verified, and this beer may contain gluten. So basically I would avoid this is you have a life and death allergy to gluten. The Stone website does offer the actual gluten testing lab reports for each batch if you would like to do specific research.
The beer itself is brewed with Lemondrop and El Dorado hops, and comes in at 7.7% ABV. This IPA is certainly an attractive one, lovely golden caramel color with a big fluffy white head. Maybe not as big and dank as some other Stone IPA’s on the nose, but there is a nice musty hop aroma with some sweet caramel malt. I actually like the taste of this quite a bit, honestly I’d never have guessed this is gluten free/reduced. That sweet caramel malt base I love so much in an IPA is upfront, followed by some orange citrus, mild pine and slight mint coming from the hops. The bitterness is solid and long lasting. The aftertaste of this beer leaves a bit to be desired, it’s a bit chalky and weird.
Whether you are suffering from gluten intolerance or not, this is a really tasty IPA that is worth a try. I’m glad I took a chance on a whole six pack of this, gonna really enjoiy the other five of these!
