Great Divide Oak Aged Yeti
Great Divide Oak Aged Yeti is an American Double/Imperial Stout, bottled on 10-30-14, opened on 02-22-15, aged almost 4 months. 9.5% ABV.
This pours with big thick glugs, dark as night with frothy dark brown head. The aroma carries a lot of big roasted malts and a lot of dry wood. Maybe the most wood I’ve ever smelled in a beer. Creamy & smooth dark chocolate start the taste with an initially huge sweetness, but that quickly morphs into a ton of big/dry roasted malts, dry leather and tobacco. I’m also getting some bitter hops mixing with some burnt malt flavor on the finish. Intensely dry wood flavors stick to the mouth and tongue in the aftertaste along with some Russian Imperial Stout like licorice and alcohol heat notes.
Yet another outstanding variation of the original Yeti, this is probably the most intense variant as well.
