I Cry When I Run
I should not complain about the cold weather here is Savannah when I can see images of feet of snow up north but I’ve noticed something this year about how the cold affects me. It makes me cry like a baby.
I’m serious; if it’s below 60 degrees I have starts streaming down my face within minutes of going for my run. I wonder sometimes what my fellow runners must think as they run by; I must look like my dog just died.
This is something I’ve noticed happening the last few years but it seems more prominent this year and comes on faster. Maybe I’m more aware but I guess it could be getting worse. I’ve done my online research though and from everything I’ve read this isn’t a real issue, just that I have dry eyes. The cold air dries them out further and my eyes over compensate by making too many tears.
There seem to be a few solutions to this issue. The first is easy enough as all you have to do is blink. I tend to look into the distance when I run and I like to look around. I guess I’ve been staring more than I realized. The second solution, one I won’t try, is wearing glasses. It’s a straight forward enough solution but I just don’t like running with glasses on.
Does anyone else in Brew/Drink/Run world have the same issue? What have you done to alleviate the tears?
