Sierra Nevada Hop Hunter IPA
Sierra Nevada Hop Hunter IPA is a new offering that is brewed with farm distilled hop oil. 6.2% ABV.
Light golden color with great clarity and carbonation. Big pine aroma with a little bit of dry cracker malt as well. Interesting shift on the taste. This is really drinking a lot like one of those low ABV IPA’s: flavorful and dry malt that is a bit mild, and hops that bring a little less flavor but a lot of pure bitterness. The finish finally reveals the big pine hop that you get on the nose. Light citrus notes on the finish as well, with a dry cracker aftertaste.
I felt a bit let down by this at first, but I changed my mind after about half a glass. It won’t dethrone some of my favorite IPA’s, but this is well worth a try for the IPA fan.
