North Coast Old Stock Ale Cellar Reserve
The aroma really stands out on this beer. I’m smelling layers of big bourbon, rich toffee/caramel and dark fruits. The taste is almost a mirror image of the aroma. Huge bourbon smacks your palate up first, but then more subtle notes of sweet caramel and raisins appear. The finish brings some straight alcohol burn and more bourbon and caramel in the aftertaste. I like my barrel aged beer with a bit fuller body generally speaking, but this smells and tastes so good that I can live with it being a bit on the thinner side.
I actually feel like the non-barrel aged version of this is a bit more complex overall. If you are a big fan of bourbon barrel aged beers like I am, you are going to love this.
