Stone Chai-Spiced Imperial Russian Stout
Stone Chai-Spiced Imperial Russian Stout is the 2015 Odd Year Release, 10.6% ABV. The bottle tells us this is brewed with …cinnamon, cardamom, clove, ginger, a dash of black pepper and a dose of black tea to emulate the aroma and taste of authentic chai tea. Mission Accomplished!
This pours totally opaque with a nice tan head. The aroma is incredible, I love the way chai tea smells and this really smells just like it. Just like chai tea itself, the taste is a bit more of a struggle for me, but I do like this quite overall. All of those spices come through big time with the cinnamon and clove leading the way for me. The ginger aspect comes out in the finish and is mixing with a lot of bitter roast, some hops and alcohol bite. I think what really saves this from becoming too much is the fact that the base stout is so good in general. That keeps this from becoming just a mess of spices from the spice rack.
Growing on me with each sip, definitely a fun one off to try if your a fan of chai tea.
