Fulton Beer War & Peace
Fulton Beer War & Peace is a Russian Imperial Stout aged with Peace Coffee Guatemalan Organic Dark Roast, 9.5% ABV.
This poured with a beautifully thick black pour with some caramel color around the edges. Split this with several people so the head was a little less than stellar. The aroma is just divine. I’m getting the near perfect amount of coffee, chocolate and roasted malts on the nose. It smells so good it’s hard to move on to the taste. The flavor compliments the aroma very well. Roast, chocolate and some strong black coffee. The mouth-feel is thick and slick, almost chewy. The best thing about this beer is the fantastic balance of sweet, roast and bitter coffee. None of those elements, as big as they all are, ever dominates. If I have any complaint I’d have to say this never drank like a classic RIS.
I could have sat around for an hour smelling and sipping the whole of the 750 ml bottle. Sigh… my 4oz sample was gone way too soon. Big thanks to Kevin for sharing this gem from his latest Rare Beer Club shipment.
