Two Brothers Bare Tree ’13
Two Brothers Bare Tree ’13 is an American Wheatwine, clearly the 2013 vintage based on the name. The label itself calls this a Barley Wine Style Weiss Beer, a style description I had never heard of before. In fact, that odd description was a big reason I picked one of these up. I had to find out what that meant!
This pours with a nice golden color, a few flecks of stuff floating in the glass, not much in the way of a head on this two year old beer. Huge honey aroma on this one that reminds me a lot of Lee’s beloved Gamma Ray. The taste is also sweet but it isn’t a total honey bomb. More of a honeycomb flavor, sweet grain that reminded me of Frosted Flakes and a lot of generic grain alcohol flavor. The finish is dryish and surprisingly crisp, but still nicely sweet.
I have to say for a totally random bottle shop pick up, I like this a lot. I’d grab more of this to cellar again. I am also a bit stunned by some of the low ratings this is getting. Both Lee and I were rather impressed with this beer. All I can think is that people are expecting something else when they pop the cork on this bottle.
