Angry Chair Dave’s Barleywine With Coconut And Maple
Finally got a chance to visit this brewery in Tampa and Angry Chair Dave’s Barleywine With Coconut And Maple was the first beer I tried. I am going to assume there is a regular version of this English style Barleywine as well as other variants.
I ordered a 5 oz pour which did not come with a ton of head, but the color is very nice. Dark with a cola like color, red and brown hues. The aroma is fantastic, coconut and caramel dominate. Oh, I could just sit and smell this all day. I was afraid the taste would not carry that aroma but I was so wrong. Amazing. So much strong toasted coconut, I’m not sure how they managed to do it? And it is specifically toasted coconut, not fresh. Add to that sweet maple, caramel, a hint of chocolate and a bit of hops to balance. There are some intensely sweet beers out there and this one will fall into that category. The mouth-feel isn’t quite syrupy, but it is toeing that line for sure.
This is really one of the best beers I have every had. EVER. Even though there was many options of beer to try I ended going back to this for a full 12 oz pour before I had to leave. So good.
