Red Hare Gangway IPA (Aged In Jose Cuervo Tradicional Barrels)
Red Hare Gangway IPA (Aged In Jose Cuervo Tradicional Barrels) is an American IPA, 6.2% ABV. A rare 22 oz. bottle from Red Hare that is filled with their Gangway IPA aged in Jose Cuervo Tradicional tequila barrels.
It’s not surprisingly to see that this pours with the same caramel color and big white head as Gangway. The aroma is clearly different though. I’m smelling a nice combo of sweet malt, tropical fruit and Jose Cuervo. The taste? This tastes like tequila if it was a beer. I’m not getting much in the way of IPA, a little bit of sweet malt and maybe some spicy hops, but this is more like the liquor than the beer. Jose Cuervo is not my favorite brand of tequila and this just tastes too much like a shot of it for me to come back to again.
I’m glad to see Red Hare branching out a little bit from their core brands and safe seasonal offerings. In this case it’s just too much Cuervo for me.
