Birrificio Del Ducato Verdi Imperial Stout
Birrificio Del Ducato Verdi Imperial Stout comes in at 8.2%, thanks to Raymond for bringing back this from his trip to Italy to share.
It pours with a nice thick dark color, very typical for the style. The aroma is mildly roasty overall, but I am getting a lot of the coffee that is a nice complement to the rest of the sweet aroma. Tasty chocolate malt, mild roast are the major components to a well put together flavor profile, but there is also an odd sugary flavor that I don’t quite like. Some notes of dark fruits come into play, the coffee is surprisingly absent until the finish but it is there. This is brewed with chili spice but I really don’t get any of it in the taste (Lee and Raymond were getting a subtle chili flavor that increased as the beer warmed), but after a few sips I started feeling it in my chest.
This was the most highly recommended stout that Raymond got during his time in Italy, and this is well worth it’s home country hype.
