Odell Jaunt
Odell Jaunt is an American Pale Ale brewed with Colorado grown Riesling grapes and aged on oak staves.
This is a nice looking Pale Ale, with an almost creamy yellow/orange color. I’m enjoying a sweet and tart(ish) fruity aroma with a good bit of generic wine as well. The flavor on this is really quite the same: a sweet fruitiness and a bit of tart and loaded with a nice grape/wine taste that is complimented by a hint of dry oak. What was totally unexpected was a little sour cream (!?). Sounds crazy, but it is distinctly there. What is even more crazy is the fact that itĀ isn’t an unpleasant flavor in this beer at all!
It takes a lot to get me interested in a Pale Ale sometimes, but this one has just enough going on to make it fairly unique and interesting… Seriously, sour cream!!
