Aardwolf Zagreus (Red Wine Barrel Aged)
Aardwolf Zagreus is a Belgian style Tripel. This review is for a red wine barrel aged variant I picked up from the brewery taproom when I was in Florida this summer.
The beer pours with a nice golden color with a slight red hue that I assume is due to the red wine barrels. The aroma is fruity with an interesting blend of Grape Bubblicious gum, Belgian yeast and alcohol. There is a nice grape flavor (more natural than in the aroma) to the taste, some banana, clove and a distinct wine like alcohol presence.
This is a solid tripel with a nice barrel treatmentĀ that is currently makingĀ for an excellent nightcap!
