Founders Double Trouble
Founders Double Trouble is an American Double/Imperial IPA, 9.4% ABV.
This is on the lighter side of the DIPA spectrum, lightly golden with some lemon yellow hues. The aroma has a generic hoppiness with a nice sugary sweet malt balance on the nose, mild but pleasant enough. The taste starts with an immediate citrus hop bite (lots orange and a bit of grapefruit) that is followed by a light caramel malt sweetness. The finish brings in some mild pine, not too sticky, and a little alcohol taste. It is all wrapped up with a long lingering hop tingle in the aftertaste. Overall this is somewhat intensely hop forward beer, that balances quite nicely as it warms!
This is one of my favorite Double IPA’s, I always pick up a few 4 packs of this when it comes out each year.
