Lagunitas Undercover Investigation Shut-Down Ale

Lagunitas Undercover Investigation Shut-Down Ale is an American Strong Ale. This batch comes in at 9.3% ABV, but I have had this in the past where it was 9.7%.

This beer pours with a beautiful deep caramel color with red highlights, and a light tan head, The aroma is a combination of molasses, caramel, and citrus hops that are all playing nice with each other. The taste brings a similar collection of flavors, molasses, brown sugar, a bit of sweet orange, hints of dank pine/green onion, nutty toffee and only a slightly obvious alcohol presence in the dry hoppy finish. Sweet and hoppy, nothing unexpected from Lagunitas.

It has been a few years since I first had this and it was nice to re-visit, I’m glad I still enjoy it as much as I do!
