New Belgium Eric’s Ale (Lips Of Faith Series)
New Belgium Eric’s Ale is an American Wild Ale, 7% ABV. This is a fairly complex blend of a Wild Ale and Golden Lager, but let’s just go with the simple line on the bottle: Wood Aged Sour Peach Ale.
The beer pours with a light golden color with orange and lemon hues, the head is nearly gone before long but leaves a wispy ring around the edge of the glass. The aroma is quite pleasant, slightly tart and fruity with a distinct sweet peach flare. Interesting taste here, I was expecting something a bit more sour, but there is a good bit of mild tartness. A bit thin tasting with some major white wine notes. Grape skins, tart peaches, slight hint of funk and oak.
This is a pleasant enough beer that is stuck being neither a sour nor a fruit beer, something right in-between. A great choice to offer your big wine drinking friends.
