Hall & Woodhouse Badger Golden Glory
Hall & Woodhouse Badger Golden Glory is an English Blonde Ale, 4.5% ABV. Big thanks to BDR podcast listener Mike S. for sending this our way all the way from England. He went above and beyond the call of duty to ship a few bottles when he was recently here in the US of A. Cheers!
The beer pours with a pleasant golden amber color and a big fluffy white head. The aroma is exceptionally fruity with a ton of sweet peaches and what smells like some honey as well. A good bit of the grain bill sneaks past the fruity sweetness but this beer screams PEACHES! The taste starts rather fruity as well, peaches are once again dominate. (I guess I shouldn’t be surprised given the “Perfectly Peachy Beer” that I now see written on the neck label) This Blonde Ale is not afraid to try and be more than just a Fruit Beer though. There is a good amount of dry, almost yeasty bitterness on the finish. In all honesty the combination was not my cup of tea to begin with, but this beer is growing on me as I drink it.
I couldn’t see taking down several pints of this at the pub all night, but this was certainly a fun beer to get to try.
