Stone Stochasticity Project Hifi+Lofi Mixtape
Stone Stochasticity Project Hifi+Lofi Mixtape is an American Strong Ale, 8.8% ABV. This is a blend of an ale aged (more than three months) in oak foudres and a fresh version of the same ale. It took me a while to pick this up at the store for some reason, looks like this already has about 5 months of age on it.
This pours with a perfect gold color and an even more perfect off white head. Maybe the slightest bit of chill haze, but otherwise this is a fantastic looking beer. I’m enjoying a strong woody aroma, hints of vanilla, mild fruitiness. I knew nothing about the ale itself ahead of time, and yet I’m a bit surprised by the flavor. I’m getting a rush of sweet malt, some caramel sweetness, a hint of vanilla and a little white bread. This is followed by an intense spiciness, and an extreme dry woody character. Getting a lot of alcohol taste and some unexpected tea that really lingers in the aftertaste.
This is a quality beer with a whole lot of flavor, but those big flavors are coming together in an odd way. Not going to say this is one of Stone’s more memorable creations, but I will enjoy the rest of this bottle and I have no regrets about buying it.
