Lagunitas Born Yesterday
Lagunitas Born Yesterday is a new release in the One Hitter Series, a 6.5% Fresh Hop Pale Ale brewed with Mosaic, Equinox and Amarillo hops. The gimmick here is this, the beer was literally packaged and shipped on the same day. It arrived on Savannah shelves two days after it was “born”. I finally got to the store a few days later, I’m sure it has fallen off.
A good looking beer, light gold with a solid off white head. The aroma… oh my the aroma is so good. Sweet and fruity with so much mango & pineapple, add to that a bit of grapefruit and pine sap. The taste is just bonkers hoppy. Not nearly as sweet and fruity in the flavor profile, but there is a bit of that in the beginning of the taste. Intense dank pine, sweet onion, more pine, grapefruit rind, and even more sticky pine on a fairly bitter finish. Malt? What malt? This is hoppier than a lot of Double IPA’s I’ve had!
Lagunitas must have lost a ton of money on this little adventure, but it was amazing to know what a truly fresh beer from this hop crazed brewery tastes like!
