Monday Night Brewing Blood Orange Blind Pirate
Monday Night Brewing Blood Orange Blind Pirate is an American Double/Imperial IPA. Actually 6.5% ABV seems a bit low for a Double IPA, but that is what it says on the bottle. This is a new addition to the Clip-on Series, and blood orange is all the rage these days, shall we see what Monday Night can do with the fruit?
Pretty good looking beer, slightly hazy amber with some warm reddish orange hues as well, a nice white head leaves a good little ring around the edge after it fades. A bit malt forward on the aroma, I was expecting a huge amount of citrus but it is kind of mild. Where I get a lot of pineapple in regular Blind Pirate, this one lives up to it’s name and brings a ton of sharp orange citrus to the flavor table. A good amount of bitter pine comes in as well, and I’m not getting nearly the malt sweetness of the original Blind Pirate.
An above average IPA, and if you are in love with the big citrus hop flavors this one should be right up your alley.
